My blue cone shaped robot, with a toy car for wheels, and wires for arms, and two black dots for eyes. Sat atop a soccer ball last night. I was very excited to have him tackle this mess. It was just about centered in my garage. It was in the path to the freezer and fridge we use to store extra food.

If the robot could clean up this mess, it would be a huge win.

To my dismay, but I was not surprised. This is how I found my robot the next morning. A while 12 hours since it started working, it was hard to perceive what it had accomplished.

Perhaps it moved the whole bin a little to left. Or maybe, that was from people kicking it on the way to the fridge to get the extra milk carton. Hard to tell. Is this progress? Well either way, I need to keep the project moving, so I rolled up my sleeves, and began to move one thing and another. I threw away the logo box. Tossed the soccer ball to a messy part of the garage to be handled later.

I repaired the chair and put it back in my favorite spot in the living room. I consolidated, I sorted, and I put away everything in this area. And when me and my little robot had finished. This is what it looked like.

I could see the garage’s center pole. And although it was a bit rusty. It was a beautiful sight to behold. I remember seeing it once or twice last year. I also forgot how nice it was to be able to walk directly to the fridge without jumping over clutter.

I moved the robot to the next section. Hoping by tomorrow morning it can make some progress.

Day four was another success. I have never been this efficient at cleaning up the garage before.

It worked again. I put my homemade robot, made out of a hazard cone, and wires for arms, out in the garage in the new spot I wanted him to clean. (Can you spot him in the photo above?)

The next day, I found he had become stuck, and it seemed he had not done anything. So, I moved one thing out of its way, after another. And now check out this photo I took after we were done.

Still a little messy, but you can tell that the robot and I were able to really improve the space.

Next I am going have the robot tackle the game cabinet.

So I have been having a hard time cleaning some spots in my house. So I built a robot to help clean. He doesn’t have a name yet, so we can just call him the Try Something Bot A.

He is a hazard cone. Glued to the top of a toy car, with wires for hands, and two dots painted on for eyes.

How to use this robot:

Find a place you want to clean. I chose this desk in the garage that people have been throwing items onto for quite some time.

it was very messy, so I put the my new bot up to the challenge.

You can see the bot on the left end of the table. I left him there over night, and found he had gotten stuck right where I left him. So I picked up one item, and then another, until the desk was clear. And with the robots help, the desk was cleared.

As you can see in the photo all the junk is gone. All that is left is a clear desk. Before I built this robot I couldn’t get it clean, but now with the help of the Try Something Bot A…I was able to clean the desk. Now I did have to help the robot when it got stuck, but it was easier to help the robot each time it got stuck than to help me when I get stuck.

So I put the robot in a new area and am hoping. Can make some progress tonight while I am sleeping, but if not I can help him finish it on the morning.
